FAQs

How big will my Bernedoodle get?

Females will reach a max of about 65lbs.

Males will reach a max of about 85lbs.

Will they shed?

The short answer is yes.

Any breed mixed with poodle has the potential to shed. The shedding will typically be less than the breed it was mixed with. The more curl to the hair, the less the dog will shed!

Are Bernedoodles a good dog for people with allergies?

Yes and No. It all depends on the severity of the allergy. If there are dog allergies in your family, getting a curly dog that sheds less will be better as they have more of a poodle type hair. If the allergies are severe, I do not recommend a Bernedoodle. My husband has a dog allergy and does well with our Bernedoodles.

Are Bernedoodles difficult to groom?

Bernedoodles do require more grooming but no more than a poodle. They need to be brushed at least every other day.  Web search results recommend taking your bernedoodle to the groomer twice a year, but I personally feel is it best at least every three months, they will need trimming around eyes and face more frequently. The curly hair dogs will need more grooming to avoid matting.

Typically, I bathe them once per week with baking soda and water. Once a month I bathe with soap to reduce stripping the natural oils on their skin and use dry dog shampoo as needed.
